Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines continues tree-planting tradition.

The Makers and Sellers of Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines (KOF PH) planted 600 seedlings by the Ipo Dam.

The Ipo Dam provides a bulk of the water source for the nearly 13 million residents of Metro Manila; a network of cities that include the Philippine capital.
For this year’s annual tree-planting drive of KOF PH, volunteers gathered at Norzagaray, Bulacan. The idea was to continue working toward the effective and sustainable management of the Sapang Munti micro-watershed.

KOFvolunteers gathered at Norzagaray, Bulacan, on September 30 2017.

The sustainability initiative, for which KOF has partnered with World Wildlife Fund Philippines and Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines, has been a formal advocacy since 2014. Among the long-term goals of the Ipo Watershed Rehabilitation and Management Program is the conversion 150 hectares of open grasslands and degraded forests into flourishing and well-managed ones. This move will also directly benefit over 8,000 people in the communities and indigenous peoples groups residing in the area.

Volunteerism plays an important role in the community development efforts of the 10,000-strong KOF— from the creation of social and economic value, to the promotion of proactive environmental conservation as evidenced by this recent tree-planting activity. This inherent generosity of time, effort, and spirit form the core principles of the makers and sellers of KOF in the Philippines—and elevates our outreach programs for the communities in which we operate into enduring, steadfast partnerships with the people we are always happy to serve.
